Five members of the Dodgers organization and a family member tested positive for the coronavirus, according to a USA Today report.
The report cited the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and quoted a statement from the department saying, “The Dodgers organization continues to work with us during this ongoing outbreak investigation.”
The report quotes an anonymous source saying that “most of the people who tested positive” for COVID-19 were not in the quarantine bubble in Arlington, Texas during the World Series. It is also unclear if third baseman Justin Turner is counted among those positive tests.
Turner was removed from Game 6 of the World Series when a positive test was confirmed. The Dodgers’ traveling party was tested after the game and again the following morning before they were allowed to fly home from Texas. Everyone in the traveling party was cleared later that afternoon with the exception of Turner and his wife, Kourtney.
Everyone who had come in contact with Turner was supposed to self-quarantine for 14 days following the end of the World Series which ended on Oct. 27. But players did return to their offseason homes throughout the country.
Major League Baseball announced on Friday that it had concluded an investigation into Turner’s behavior when he returned to the field for the Dodgers’ celebration following Game 6. Turner was not disciplined and expressed remorse for his decision to leave an isolation room.
According to the USA Today report, MLB was unaware of the positive tests in the Dodgers organization.
